CAPE TOWN WATERSKIING
Cape Town WaterskiingWaterskiing and wakeboarding are two closely related surface water sports. The Cape offers numerous excellent locations for partaking in these fun activities. There are several local waterskiing and wakeboarding clubs and companies which can assist you to ‘find your feet in the water’ at one of the lakes and dams in the Peninsular and surrounds.

There are various techniques which are used to waterski. One example is cable water-skiing which features an overhead cable system and an electric motor which pulls the user round the lake. This is a very safe form of waterskiing and takes place in a restricted area under skilled instructors.

Traditional waterskiing involves being towed by a motorboat. It is usual to begin learning at a speed of around 25 kph on two skis and then to progress to a single ski, with the feet placed one behind the other, at a speed of up to 55 kph. Barefoot skiing is popular among the more advanced waterskiier.

Wakeboarding is a combination of waterskiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques. The participant is towed on a single board, and stands sideways as on a surf or skate board.

Both sports offer many fun jumps, tricks and turns which can be learned and mastered over time. This is a great way to spend the day with friends and family in typically beautiful natural Cape surroundings.

For a Ski Resort holiday which involves fun in sun-splashed lakes rather than on ice and snow covered mountains, why not try Cape Town waterskiing and wakeboarding this holiday?
