THORNYBUSH GAME RESERVE / LIMPOPO PROVINCE

Set in the heart of the lowveld, with the magnificent northern Drakensberg mountain range standing watch, lies over 11,000 hectares of pristine African bushveld. The Sabi Sand Reserve with mixed woodland savannahs rolling into riverine watercourses lies adjacent to the greater Kruger National Park. Thornybush Game Reserve is home to an abundance of birds and mammals including the Big Five.

Six exclusive lodges, each share this wildlife sanctuary, are individually designed with the objective of exceeding guest’s expectations and providing an unrivalled safari experience.

Diverse accommodation caters for most guests’ needs, from rustic understated comfort to luxury of the finest order. All lodges have sparkling swimming pools and offer exciting dawn and dusk safaris from open landrovers with fully qualified rangers and trackers, and bush walks for the more adventurous.

Main Lodge: The Main Lodge is the flagship and is set along the banks of the seasonal Monwana River. The lodge comprises twenty luxurious double suites flanking extensively decked living areas, library, curio shop and magnificent pool commanding the perfect position with the ever active water hole at its backdrop.

N’Kaya: Tastefully decorated in warm earthy tones and indigenous woods, the n'Kaya Lodge combines luxury with natural simplicity. The spacious double suites, each with private lounges and twin ensuite facilities, ensure optimal space for the discerning guest.

Serondella Lodge: Suspended wooden walkways link treetop hides to luxuriously appointed suites set along the meandering Monwana tributary. This lodge is flanked by two waterholes, here guests can enjoy an abundance of big game and birdlife from spectacular viewing decks.

Jackelberry Lodge: The towering Drakensberg Mountains provide a majestic backdrop for this 10-bedded rustic camp. If you are looking for spectacular views, understated comfort and ethnic ambience that blends harmoniously with nature, Jackalberry is ideal. The bush around the lodge teams with game and more than 250 different species of birds can be seen, a paradise for birdwatchers. Relax by a crackling campfire after a hearty traditional bushveld dinner, and listen to the night sounds of Africa.

Chapungu Lodge: Authentically furnished in colonial splendour, handpicked pieces fill the lodge and its five air-conditioned en-suite tents, enhancing the ambience and comforts typical of a bygone era.
