Situated in a most enviable location on Camps Bay’s glorious
beachfront, the Bayside Café enjoys magnificent sea views and
spectacular sunsets. Successfully run by Eddie Uys for the past 14
years, this popular establishment has a strong local following who
appreciate the consistent good quality of food and service.
|
The spacious interior, which is spread over two floors, is undergoing
a complete revamp to complement the existing architecture of this
gracious building which is 75 years old. The smoking section which
occupies the first floor, has been dramatically improved by the
addition of natural stone walls, polished wooden floors, crisp white
tablecloths and comfortable upholstered chairs. Strategic splashes of
colour and attractive arched windows complete the sophisticated new
look which has also been carried through to the downstairs section.
|
Popular for breakfasts over weekends and holidays, the restaurant is
fortunate to have shady pavement tables to make the most of the warm
summer months. The breakfast menu is impressive with a selection that
includes kippers, bagels and French toast. For light lunches the menu
offers burgers, bagettes, toasted sandwiches and plenty of fresh crisp
salads. Well known for their excellent ribs, steaks and seafood, it is
difficult to pin point specific dishes on the main menu as there are
so many good things on offer. It is worth noting however that
vegetarians have been well catered for with choices that include a
fragrant Thai vegetable curry and Tortilla wraps with a butternut
sauce. |
