Marika's Restaurant opened its doors on 10 Dec 2005 with Frank and
Marika at the helm. 'To our astonishment, the reception received from
our local community (not to mention travelers from Europe, America and
Australia) was overwhelming. Such was the response that we often had
to turn people away with nowhere left to seat them! The continuation
of this phenomenon prompted us to recommend early bookings to avoid
being turned away. We can seat 40 comfortably, (50 at a push) and have
a small front garden area for al fresco dining, weather permitting.'
|
Marika's is an ideal venue for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries
and other special occasions and the restaurant can be reserved in it's
entirety providing we are catering for 26 or more guests. We can
arrange a set menu to suit your requirements which could include an
assortment of Meze, a choice of meat and fish/vegetarian, desserts and
coffee. Our fare is by and large Mediterranean with a leaning towards
Greek home cooking, although some of our specials are sometimes
sourced from places weird but always wonderful! We believe you should
not rush your meal and with this in mind, the table you have booked is
yours for the evening. |
We are definitely child friendly and our Potato Wedges and Chicken
Kebabs are favourites with most children, not to mention our very own
home made ice creams! On the starter menu our Keftedes (Greek meat
balls), deep-fried Haloumi and grilled Calamari are all highly
recommended. However, if you would like to sample a selection of well
known Greek delicacies, we would suggest ordering a Meze Platter which
tastes as good as it looks. Main course specialties are the Arni Sto
Fourno (baked Lamb) which is so tender it literally falls off the
bone, and of course the traditional Moussaka, which is available in
either a meat or vegetarian option. Check the specials page for our
'off-the-menu' specials. Should you prefer to eat at home, we are
happy to provide outside catering and most items on our menu are also
available as takeaways.
Our wine list represents a host of relatively unknown wines which have
been specially selected to provide our guests with exceptional wines
at reasonable prices. |
