The first-class 28-suite Adderley Hotel features an exciting
separately owned restaurant “Bowl’ which is located on the first
floor. The restaurant is owner operated, and whilst it does provide
for the hotel guests, this is by no means its focus. Bowl has an
excellent pedigree coming from the same stable as sister restaurants
Wasabi, Wakame and Salushi. One of the huge draw cards for the
restaurant is the beautiful outdoor terraces with great views of the
city. One can choose from the main terrace which seats 40 or the
private terrace which seats 15 and is ideal for an intimate function.
Adjacent to the restaurant is the funky new cocktail bar which boasts
its own signature cocktail - a Fresh Fruit Waquiri which is finished
off with Wasabi. If you prefer sipping your cocktail in more scenic
surrounds, the Rooftop offers magnificent views of Lions Head, as well
as an inviting plunge pool and a selection of light meals. |
The hotel’s motto is “new space, old values” which not only highlights
the restaurant’s modus operandi, but has been cleverly conceptualized
in the restaurant decor where traditional materials such as marble,
wood, and brick have been cleverly contrasted with glossy black tables
and chairs and a modern open plan kitchen. Bowl prides itself on a
very personalized experience and you are welcome to sit at the counter
and watch the kitchen operate, or chat to the Chef whilst your meal is
being prepared. Furthermore, Bowl has pioneered a unique concept of
allowing children to create their own meal under the Chef’s
supervision either in kitchen or at the counter. The restaurant is
open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is an impressive venue for
private functions and parties. |
The menu features “Euroasian” cuisine and British Chef Ian Cawkwell
has taken his English, French and Asian cooking influences and
channelled them into one style - hence the term Euroasian. All the
dishes are served in bowls, which explains the simple but very
descriptive name of this fine dining restaurant. Ian is proud of all
the combinations that he has created and his favourite entrée is the
smoked salmon tartare with sweet pickled cucumber. As a mains he
recommends the confit of duck with a vanilla just as this truly
combines classic cooking with a Euro-Asian style. For dessert, the
white and dark chocolate roulade (which is made with ricotta cheese
and served with a strawberry and raspberry compote) compliments the
other two dishes perfectly. |
